Artist Research 4 Henry Taylor
Born in 1958. Oxnard, California.
Henry Taylor is an American Artist and painter who lives and work in Los Angeles, California. He is known for his acrylic paintings, mixed media sculptures and installations. His paintings are believed to be depicting the interrogation of life, particularly about African American life, addressing the themes of class, homelessness, politics, racial and economic issues in the United States.
Taylor studied journalism and interior design and worked as a psychiatric technician at Camarillo State Mental Hospital(for 10 years) in the 1980s. And in the early 1990s, began working vigorously to become an art
artist.
He received a BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) from the California Institute of Arts in 1995 and began to build his work, he was inspired by powerful figurative paintings of American Artists such as Alice Neel, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Henri Matisse and many more.
